by yourself

a few days ago i was talking to a friend about loneliness..what i realised is that though it may seem unpleasant at times, it is not necessarily a bad thing..to me, there are distinctions to be drawn between being alone and being lonely..
i dont mind being alone..frankly, i find it peaceful, when i am by myself with my own thoughts and only caring about myself at that point in time...do i feel lonely? no of course not!i think its because to be alone (most of the time) is really a choice that YOU make on your own. i dont know about you, but i feel more at ease going shopping by myself, and i won't have that sort of nagging feeling at the back of my head, "oh, someone is waiting for you, so you better hurry up" do you know there was one time i bought a pair of ill fitting jeans just because my mom was asking me to hurry up?see, my point exactly..

however, feeling lonely is a totally different thing altogether..
it just consumes you,and it is most of the time not a choice that you will readily make..heck, you could even be with lots and lots of people and yet you still feel lonely..
i know of people who may look like they belong when they are with a big group of friends, but its so obvious that they are very, very lonely..
so which one are you? the one who choses when and where you want to be alone?or are you the one who is left feeling lonely?
